rice
Exports of Brazilian rice are based on the quality of the grain. The product is not the cheapest on the international market, but one of the best, with excellent cooking properties, flavor and translucency, in addition to being free of pesticides and slave labor. This was confirmed by Gustavo Ludwig, manager of the Brazilian Rice Sectorial Project. “The international market recognizes the quality of our product. Peru, a market that knows rice and buys quality, is our main destination for processed rice. The United States, which is a major competitor, has been increasingly importing Brazilian cereal”, highlights the executive. He informs that “this year, we participated in the international business roundtable, in May, during Expoarroz, in Pelotas (RS), when we closed this event, projecting US$ 13.4 million in business for the next 12 months, with a group six of importers from The Gambia, USA, Bolivia, Belgium and Mexico”. At Expoarroz 2016, the round resulted in R$ 7.8 million in future business. According to the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz), the quality of the Brazilian product is a differential in world trade, with a consolidated presence in more than 70 countries in Africa, South America, the Caribbean, Middle East and Europe. The products exported from here are broken rice (35%), parboiled or brown rice (35%) and polished and/or husked white rice (30%).
